Prof. Dr. Georgios A. Spyroulias

University of Patras, Greece

Dr. Georgios A. Spyroulias received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (GR, 1989), M.Sc. (1992) & Ph.D. (1995) from University of Crete (GR) and was a post-doctoral fellow at Université René Descartes, Paris V (1995-96). He moved to University of Florence, CERM, where he got involved in structural investigation of heme-proteins through NMR Spectroscopy (1997-2000), before joining the Department of Pharmacy, at University of Patras (2000-3), where he was appointed as Assistant Professor (2003). He has established a NMR structural biology lab based on EU FP7/H2020 grants, which has been recognized as National Greek Research Infrastructure, hosting a number of academic users and users form private sector. His group studies the conformational dynamics and ligand selectivity/binding of viral proteins, RNA binding and heme proteins and proteins, which are involved in ubiquitination pathway. He has published more that 100 scientific papers (h-index 27) and solved 35 protein structures with NMR.
