Prof. Dr. Chad M. Rienstra
UW-Madison (NMRFAM, BMRB), WI, USA
C. Rienstra serves as the point of contact for the Covid19-NMR project to NMRFAM and BMRB. He has recently moved to Madison and is proceeding with major upgrades to the solid-state NMR instrumentation program at NMRFAM.
He is an expert in advanced technologies including magic-angle spinning, high-dimensionality non-uniform sampling, proton signal detection, long-range distance measurements and integrated structural biology computational approaches. Together these solid-state NMR methods will contribute to the understanding of COVID19 proteins and their interactions, especially to measure spectra of small labeled proteins in large complexes and to determine structures in physiological lipid bilayer environments.
