Assoc. Professor Dr. Krisztina Varga
The Varga lab at the University of New Hampshire focuses on the biophysical characterization of protein structure and function. We use NMR and other spectroscopic techniques to investigate protein structure, protein-protein, and protein-ligand interactions. Ongoing projects include antifreeze proteins, the polar organizing protein Z, a regulator of G protein signaling, and the main protease enzyme from SARS-CoV-2. We have been investigating the interaction of Nsp5 (Mpro) from SARS-CoV-2 with inhibitory small molecules. We can express and purify the active Nsp5 protein in the lab, and we are just starting the characterization of the protein by NMR.
