Looking back at one year with Corona
The university newspaper “UniReport” asked members from different departments of the Goethe-University to share their experiences and lessons learned after a year with Corona. The Covid19-outbreak presented everyone with special and new challenges. Prof. Harald Schwalbe comments on the COVID19-NMR project that was started on March 26 one year ago and includes now more than 200 people from 17 different countries: “In these 12 months we succeeded in investigating the structure of all viral RNAs (Wacker, Weigand et al., 2020) and almost all proteins (Altincekic et al., 2021). We investigate which potential active substances bind to these viral targets (Sreeramulu, Richter et al., 2021, in revision) and on this basis synthesize new potential active substances. SARS-CoV-2 has changed the way we do science.”
